About us

Who we are

We promote, develop and maintain classical studies in Aberdeen and the North of Scotland, and help more people discover what the ancient world still has to say.

Our purpose

The Classical Association of Scotland: Aberdeen and North of Scotland Centre exists to promote, develop and maintain classical studies, and to raise public awareness of how much the classics contribute to education, culture and public life in Aberdeen and the North of Scotland.

We do this by organising lectures and other educational and cultural events, designed to interest people of all ages and backgrounds, and by working with organisations that share our aims, including the Classical Association of Scotland, with which we are affiliated.

What we do

  • A yearly series of talks by visiting speakers, in person on the University of Aberdeen's King's College campus
  • Online talks open to anyone, wherever they live
  • Occasional events in local schools
